My approach is collaborative, active, supportive and real. I use empirically supported therapy to treat traumatic stress, anxiety and depression and will draw from a range of treatment strategies to meet your individual needs. Therapy sessions may include education on a topic of concern, finding ways to help you overcome obstacles, developing an action plan to move you towards your goals, or reviewing practical coping strategies such as relaxation skills. Often, sessions will consist of exploring unhelpful thoughts and examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
I have completed specialized training in several treatments proven to be effective for a range of problems. These include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression, anxiety and worry, panic attacks, phobias, insomnia, chronic pain; Interpersonal Psychotherapy for depression, grief/bereavement, relationship issues; Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); and Motivational Interviewing.
In addition to my general practice, I have a personal interest in helping people improve their health and wellness to increase life satisfaction. I can provide therapy and coaching to help you manage pain, sleep better, lose weight, eat healthier, exercise more and stop smoking. I have helped individuals learn to manage diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and also cope with chronic illness.
Most therapy sessions are scheduled weekly for 50min each. Treatment focus, duration and frequency of sessions are all determined based on your specific needs and can be short-term or ongoing. I offer flexible hours, in person sessions, and/or tele-therapy sessions (video to home/office).
I am an out of network provider and require fees to be paid at the time of service. Some benefits of paying privately include more privacy and more control in our work together. If you are interested in using your out of network insurance benefits, I will provide you with a detailed receipt that includes diagnosis and session codes for you to submit for reimbursement.
